Here at the brewery we’re entering our first fall season, and it’s a bit like wandering down a new trail – we have a pretty good idea of where it’s leading, but we need to use our wits to navigate. Exciting – and the scenery’s looking mighty nice too.
Summer? It was on point. Our beer garden grew into a spectacular tangle, just like we dreamed, and was filled with people enjoying the sun by day and the twinkle lights by evening. We got to pour at some great festivals, including one of our favourites, Session Muskoka up in Bracebridge. All kinds of people came to town from far flung places and stopped in for a beer or two. We grew our little family to include a crack new front-of-house team, about half of whom split for university a few weeks ago.
September is all about renewal. (Way more than New Year is, in our opinion.) We’re keeping our team strong with a few new faces – you’ll love them. We’ve got new beers for September: Witch’s Hat black IPA – a tantalizing, dark, hoppy glass of pure pleasure; and Back Forty, coming soon to the brewery – our wet-hopped pale ale brewed with 100% Ontario malt from Barn Owl Malt and 100% UXBRIDGE hops from 6th Hops. Our beers continue to show up at new bars and restaurants, though we’re keeping things fairly slow and steady to make sure we keep a good handle on our growth.
We’ve got awesome live music lined up for the fall, including Darrin Davis & Jeff Haynes, Pawns, Ben Hudson & Brooke Averill and Rory Taillon, and we’ll be offering a few new surprises too. We’re pouring at Chef Michael Smith’s new cookbook launch at Urban Pantry on October 1, and at Cask Days – possibly the most fun you can have in a room with 5,000 other people and 250 unique beers – October 21-23. We have a few events of our own up our sleeve too, just to keep things interesting… stay tuned.
Here’s to the breath of fresh air that comes with a change of seasons. We hope we can help bring you much fall enjoyment.
